Pastor Curtis L. Johnson is a native of Greenville, SC, where he currently resides with his lovely wife of 30 years, Charla Johnson, and his two sons, Isaiah & Joshua. Pastor Johnson’s life is dedicated to delivering the uncompromising Word of God so that people are propelled into living the Word and applying it. With nearly three decades of providing spiritual and pastoral counseling to God’s people, Pastor Johnson is able to reach others with warmth, transparency, and strength.
CHURCH LEADERSHIP: Pastor Johnson is the Senior Pastor of Valley Brook Outreach Baptist Church in Pelzer, SC, where he has served faithfully since 1993. He led the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship in their commitment to sustainability, holiness, innovation, family, and transcendence as the SC State Overseer.
EDUCATION: Pastor Johnson studied at Morris College School of Religion and North Greenville University. He earned his Master of Divinity Degree from the M. Christopher White School of Divinity at Gardner-Webb University. Pastor Johnson is also a graduate of the Diversity Leaders Institute at Furman University.
SERVICE TO COUNTRY: Pastor Johnson enlisted into the U.S. Air Force in 1985 and dedicated 4 years to serving the American people with excellence, selflessness, and integrity.
CAREER: Pastor Johnson operates as a licensed Final Expense Agent with Lincoln Heritage Life Insurance Company. In his capacity as the Gospel Director of 107.3 JAMZ, WJMZ in Greenville, SC, Pastor Johnson appealed to listeners by connecting them with music that encouraged and inspired a closer relationship with Christ.
SERVICE TO COMMUNITY
Current: Pastor Johnson is a protégé of Dr. Bernice King and hails as an official representative of the King Center for Nonviolent Social Change in Atlanta Georgia. Continuing his vision to build lives, relationships, and communities through the message, ministry, and methods of the Kingdom, Pastor Johnson functions as a Spiritual Care Volunteer for the American Red Cross. Additionally, he serves on the Leadership Team for the Community Remembrance of Project of Greenville County, SC, to confront the history of racial terror through restorative truth-telling. He is the Founder and Chairman of the MLK Dream Weekend, an event that produced over $1million in scholarships to deserving students in the upstate; provided jobs; and life- changing opportunities to the community.
Past: He diligently served as a member of the Diversity Advisory Committee for reenville Hospital System and Greenville Technical College. He is the former Chairman of the Board for SHARE (Sunbelt Human Advancement Resources), one of the leading anti-poverty Community Action Agencies in SC.
AWARDS & HONORS: As a man of vision, Pastor Johnson is revered for his leadership, integrity, and compassion. He is the recipient of many honors and awards: Presidential Lifetime Volunteer Service Award from the Obama Administration, North Greenville University Distinguished Alumni Award, Broadcaster Service Award for the 107 Days of Nonviolence Service Project, and “Outstanding Young Men of America.”
