Charles L. Alphin

Captain (Ret.)
Charles L. Alphin, Sr.

Curriculum Consultant

In 1965 after ten years of service as a police officer in St. Louis, MO, I was introduced to the nonviolence philosophy of Dr. Martin L. King, Jr. by Dr. Bernard LaFayette, Jr. who served with him. I presently serve as Senior Instructor for the King Center.

After attending training for eight years Mrs. King asked me to join the Summer Institute team. In 1992 I retired from police work and joined the Training and Education Department.

The transformation provided to me by the King Center has been life changing. I have continued training the nonviolence philosophy globally to law enforcement and correction officers, educators, students, “gang leaders,” activists and community leaders.
