Description

The Teach(K)ing Curriculum, offered in both K-5 and 6-12 versions, is a transformative, youth-centered curriculum created by The King Center to introduce learners to the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Designed for K-12 learners, this curriculum equips young people with the tools to understand the life and leadership of Dr. King. It also aims to introduce learners to nonviolence—not as a historical concept, but as a powerful strategy for navigating conflict, fostering positive relationships, and creating the Beloved Community in their schools and communities.

Blending leadership skills with civic engagement and project-based inquiry, Teach(K)ing helps students explore community values and how they can lead. Each lesson cultivates voice, reflection, and agency—guiding students in a way that is relevant, interactive, and action-oriented.

Whether used in advisory, humanities classes, or as a stand-alone course, Teach(K)ing invites students to create the Beloved Community.
