Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a federal holiday in the United States, observed annually on the third Monday in January. The day honors Dr. King’s leadership and his role as a foremost advocate for nonviolent activism during the Civil Rights Movement, which sought to end racial discrimination in laws and society.
